CASE STUDY 2 :   Behavioural Transformation  brought in an AWW

Anganwadi (ICDS) centre Chak Kotar has registration of 90 children in the age group 3-6 yrs. Roughly 15-20 children attended Anganwadi centre regularly. Rekha Kushwaha, Anganwadi worker(AWW) seldom visited the centre. She distributed complementary food to children at the centre on Saturday and returned back. She was not running the ICDS centre properly and there was a total  lack of affection for children. Her ICDS had also been provided learning material- such as toys, stationery, durry, water tanker etc for the centre. Then, she attended number of trainings under the aegis of AAK which led to her behavioural change. Also, she steadily became friendly with AAK FLW Shyama Shukla. As a result, Shyamaji also lent her support in performing activities with children. This all led to a great impact on AWW Rekha Kushwaha. Gradually, she resorted to practice of running the ICDS centres regularly and carry out activities with children as per norms and training imparted to her. Now, the children have found a new hope in Rekha and are drawn towards her. Noticing Rekha Kushwaha coming to the centre, children get assembled at the Anganwadi centre. The result of this transformation in AWW is reflected in marked improvement in attendance of children which has risen to 50-60 now. She distributes complementary food to pregnant women, adolescent girls on each Saturday. Children are on development path so far as developing singing and playing skills are concerned. Children are seen playing with the play material and feel happy about it. Community is also happy and satisfied with the transformation brought about in Rekha Kushwaha.
