Enabling Self-help and Livelihoods

June 12, 2009

AAK has been working to organise community groups to address livelihood and sustenance issues. The thrust have been on enabling women to work collectively as saving and credit groups, ensuring that poor people have access to land and work together to improve its productivity though locally generated action to generate credit for agricultural inputs and irrigation, as well rights based action to ensure supplementary livelihoods from govt interventions such as the NREGA. AAK work in natural resource management has focused on micro-watershed management and creating community assets which are being maintained by the local community.

Focal points of these interventions include:

  • Women SHGs
  • Lift Irrigation Community groups
  • Agricultural Support groups
  • Vegetable cultivation
  • Livelihoods
  • Effective NREGA implementation
