AMOD: Working with children with disabilities (Action on Mainstreaming of People with Disability)
AAK works in 60 villages in the Hallia Block of Mirzapur district focussing on the rehabilitation of children with disabilities. Community based rehabilitation of children has been AAK’s thrust over the past years. Programme includes awareness about disability issues in the community, capacity building of local community to support the Children with Disability (CWDs), formation of SHGs, mobilisation of local Persons with Disability as village volunteer, supporting surgical interventions towards corrective treatment, physiotherapy and equipments. As in other programmes, AAK continues to focus on facilitating the CWDs to access government services. Advocacy and pressure on the education department towards building access ramps in schools continues.
